The tiny padlock next to web addresses that promised to protect our most sensitive information — passwords, stored files, bank details, even Social Security numbers — is broken.

Flaw Found in Key Method for Protecting Data on the InternetA flaw has been discovered in one of the Internet’s key encryption methods, potentially forcing a wide swath of websites to swap out the virtual keys that generate private connections between the sites and their customers.

On Tuesday afternoon, many organizations were heeding the warning. Companies like Lastpass, the password manager, and Tumblr, the social network owned by Yahoo, said they had issued fixes and warned users to immediately swap out their usernames and passwords.

iPhone email problems have been around for a long time. It seems that with every new release/update for iOS, nothing seems to really improve the reliability of the iPhone mail program. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not one of those anti Apple people; I only use Macs. But when it comes to mobile devices, like my phone and tablet, I only use Samsung devices and more importantly, Android.

Wednesday, March 27th 2013 will go down in the history  as one of the most important days in cyber history – the internet’s biggest cyber attack to date.

Most people are not even aware of what happened, why it happened and who was effected. This is mainly because most people around the world did not notice any real issues with their ability to send email, visit websites and conduct their daily online activity. However, something important did happen.. SpamHaus, which is a free service that helps filter out spam emails around the world (most mail servers are connected to services like SpamHaus to get updated lists of potential spam domains), was attacked by a group of hackers because they added a Dutch hosting company called Cyberbunker, to its list of spam domains. But before we get into the details of what happened and why, I’ll explain some of the background information first, so you’re clear on why this happened.

When you get a hosting package for your website, it usually includes email hosting as well, which means you can now use [email protected] instead of [email protected], yahoo.com, hotmail.com etc. Creating a custom email address for yourself is simple enough using your hosting control panel, but now you want to add your new email account to Microsoft Outlook, which can be a lot more confusing than you think (unless you’ve done this before and know what to do).

Optimizing your website for search engines is crucial nowadays to get found on the search engines. We all know the higher you rank, the better exposure you get, which could mean potentially more business. So you go out and hire a company to optimize your website, and slowly find (if they did it properly) that your website now begins to show on the first page or second page of Google for your main keyword. “Excellent!” you say proudly. Since you’re now ranking on the first or second page of Google, business will begin pouring in and you’ll soon be a multi-millionaire, right?
